KEY POINTS FOR PARENTS – As detailed in our new Sligo Way Document

The Sligo RFC club is led, and substantially run, by volunteers

Parents are encouraged to join the club and you will see from available membership that there
are discounts for additional siblings and family options.

Parents are asked to support the coaches in assisting with administration, umpiring,
distribution of equipment, jersey washing, first aid, etc. As a voluntary organisation, every
assistance should be given to allow mentors spend maximum time on coaching rather than
administration.

Parents/guardians are solely responsible for ensuring that players are safely escorted INTO and
ONTO playing grounds for training and matches (and collected from within the grounds
thereafter) unless other specific arrangements are made with parents, i.e. players being
collected and travelling to matches. Mentors should make this point very clear to
ALL parents
either in person, by text or by email.

Parents/guardians must always show respect to referees, match officials and mentors.

At younger ages, Sligo RFC as a club are keen to ensure that the principles of skills development,
participation and enjoyment are central. Please focus on your child’s enjoyment, effort, and skills
development. The result is not important. The club on occasion organises workdays where club
members come together to clean up at the club’s facilities. All help is appreciated.
As outlined in the booklet the club aspires to the highest standards on and off the pitch and our goal
is to build a lifelong love of rugby in a safe and supporting environment. Please support the club in
whatever way you can but always in a sporting and respectful manner. This booklet has details of the
club’s relevant committees and structures and there is always someone available if there is an issue
to be discussed.
