National Schools Girls Blitz

In a celebration of girls in rugby, Sligo Rugby hosted a National Schools Blitz for girls on Wed April 19th.

350 girls representing 10 schools from across the County took part in the Blitz in the Strandhill sunshine.

The following schools took part; Ransboro, Carbury, Scoil Aiscus Naofa, Scoil Naomh Molaise, Cloghogue, Rockfield NS Coolaney, St Brendan’s, Carraroe, Our Lady of Mercy and St. Teresa’s.

The event was part of a series of girls blitzes in the lead up to Give It A Try commencing on Sun April 23rd at the Rugby Club (10-11am for 8 weeks). Give It A Try is open to girls aged 10-16 and registration is open here.

The National Schools event will be followed by a Secondary Schools blitz next Wed April 26th at the Club. Ask your school for details.

A huge thank you to all the schools that took part, the players, their teachers, Emer and Connacht Rugby, Sandra, Triona and all the Club Coaches, the Club Youth girls that refereed and marshalled, and to all who helped to make the event such a success.
